Vintage-Inspired Streetwear | Saint Michael Spring ‘21 Available Now

Cali Thornhill Dewitt’s life was somewhat a spectacle. Originally from Canada, he grew up in  California and was consumed by the glamour of Los Angeles. With a heightened interest in music, he found himself traveling to varying cities to follow wherever his passion led him. At the young age of 19, he ended up going on tour with Courtney Love. He would then be entrusted by both Love and Kurt Cobain and become their child’s nanny. This position would grow his name within the music and social scene, making Cali Thornhill Dewitt the artist he is today. His most popular work includes his designs with Kanye West as he created the merchandise for his Life of Pablo tour. The iconic imagery has led him into apparel and when he met ReadyMade’s, Yuta Hosokawa, he was determined to start his latest passion project; Saint Michael. 

Hosokawa is no stranger to streetwear as his brand is known for repurposing military fabrics. ReadyMade has become a prominent name within the fashion industry and Yuta Hosokawa’s distinct style was the perfect blend with Dewitt’s aspirations. They instantly connected and knew exactly what they wanted in a clothing line. Early in 2020, the designers introduced Saint Michael to the public. The fashion label is unique as they utilize intricate sewing techniques and handcrafted processes. Both Hosokawa and Dewitt make it a point that their label isn’t met to be rushed and instead it is a meaningful clothing line with premium garments. 

Saint Michael draws emphasis on vintage-inspired designs with familiar religious motifs and contemporary styles. Streetwear essentials including crewnecks, hoodies, sweatpants, and hats are featured within their collections and all share a sense of nostalgia. Distressed finishes and worn-in aesthetics are implemented through each design offering a mysterious backstory that’s meaningful and one of a kind. The first-ever spring collection makes its debut and follows its signature aesthetic with each design. 

The Saint Michael Vision Tee encapsulates the label entirely as religious imagery is printed upon the front while a contemporary script is detailed throughout. The shirt is made with premium cotton that is treated by hand for a worn-in finish. The crackled printed graphic contributes to this aesthetic, making a brand new tee feel old. A similar theme is seen within the Crewneck Sweatshirt as its discolored complexion highlights bold branding across the chest. Its midweight and sturdy build is detailed with minor tears and embroidered lettering. Along with the Spring collection, Saint Michael recently debuted their collaboration capsule with Denim Tears. In the most recent drop, the collaboration shined a light on the Stadium Jacket. Premium fabrications including cotton, wool, and cow leather construct the base while a variety of patches decorate the panels.
