Vans x Anderson .Paak Collaboration Release 11/13

Ernie Salvatera

Vans and Grammy Award-winning artist Anderson. Paak are two individual powerhouses with endless range and creativity. Recently establishing their partnership, Vans also uses Anderson’s multifaceted nature as a judge for their upcoming “Musicians Wanted” competition. He is the brand’s first global music ambassador. Put the two together for a collaborative effort and you have an expressive capsule that harmoniously represents their vision.  The Vans x Anderson .Paak collection consists of two shoes & bucket hats inspired by Anderson’s breakthrough projects Malibu and Venice, respectively.

The first half of the designs comes courtesy of Anderson .Paak’s breakthrough album Malibu. The album art is an abstract arrangement of colors and motifs that are synonymous with Malibu’s luxurious nature. Dressed in chenille accents across a white upper, the Sid DX also gets dressed with accents of green represented across the side logo and shoe laces. There is also his iconic, “Yes, Lawd!” adlib printed on the inner heel of the shoe. The hat also has lengthier text printed in the inner lining.

Completing the other half of the pack, the colorful Old Skool DX and bucket hat are inspired by his recent Venice project. Composed of a colorful upper of yellow, blue, red accents, the shoe and hat both see the notes from abstract and color-heavy album art. There are also the translucent sidestrip and multi-color eyelets that add even more personality to the collection. His trademark adlib and text can also be found printed on the inside of the garments.
