As Air Max Day draws near, we want to celebrate the month and highlight the different Air Max silhouettes from now until March 26th. Since its first appearance in 1987, the Air Max 1 has become a solidified sneaker within history that breaks the rules of construction and design. The instant success provided an opportunity for Nike as they started to create better technology and silhouettes that champion the signature Air Max design. Created by Tinker Hatfield, the original design was sleek yet comfortable - a silhouette that could be easily implemented into any outfit. Hatfield wanted a specific design that utilized a window within its sole to highlight the technology created within Nike’s lab. The iconic window will get rendered and revised into varying models that will also become just as popular as the first model.

The introduction of Nike Air technology was a pivotal moment within sneaker history. The idea of an air bag implemented within the midsole was an idea that simply blew the minds of footwear connoisseurs. When the first silhouette hit the mass market in 1987, there were noticeable differences within its construction that provided a new experience when wearing the standard sneaker. The most noticeable being, its lightweight complexion. Nike replaces heavier midsole materials which allows the show to reduce its weight. But this replacement doesn’t skimp out on performance as the newly invented Air Max sole provides a responsive experience allowing the user to expend less of their energy. This type of cushioning absorbs impact and forces while also protecting the overall foot. Even under skepticism, the shoe outperformed many as it also showcased longevity and durability within its design. Since then, the Air Max technology has skyrocketed and developed a loyal customer base. A handful of new styles and silhouettes have been introduced to the footwear label and many of them include the iconic Air design we know and love.

In commemoration of the iconic sneaker, we will be launching our #FeatureAIR Campaign highlighting our community. Starting today, those who post a photo to their Instagram feed with their favorite Air Max silhouette and hashtags #FeatureAIR will be entered to receive a FREE Feature shirt. This campaign will be available now until March 26th, allowing everyone the chance to join the movement.
