WTF! Happened: TROOP

4

From Pasadena, Calfornia, hales R&B group TROOP. The group consisted of members Steve "Random" Russell, Allen McNeil, John Harreld, Rodney Benford, and Reggie Warren. After completing five albums, three of which went gold and one platinum. Their top singles included, "All I Do Is Think of You" and "Sweet November". Through the 1990's Troop were relevant to the music R & B scene but slowly faded away. After many appearances on shows such as the Late Show with David Letterman, Soul Train, The Arsenio Hall Show, and Showtime at the Apollo, it seemed to be a natural progression for group members to take on solo projects. Unfrtunately this lead to the group disbanding. However members such as Steve Russell are still involved in music and has since collaborated with musicians such as Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks. Allen McNeil released a solo album in 2011 that had some positive feedback but didn't end up igniting his career for a second time. Although the group disbanded, the footprints they've left us with are timeless.
