WTF! Happened: A Tribe Called Quest
4
Q-Tip, Phife Diggy, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad made up the legendary hip hop group, A Tribe Called Quest. Formed in 1985, the dynamic team landed a record deal with Jive Records and ran the East Coast sound in the early 1990's. ATCQ integrated a tangent of Jazz and heavy bass vibes to creating their own style of music. As lyrical geniuses, the flow of word that poured out of their mouthes intertwined smoothly with the sound of the beat in their records. A number of hit records such as, "Can I Kick It?", "Bonita Applebum", and "I Left my Wallet in El Segundo" were memorable singles that flooded ears everywhere. Following up their freshman record, "The Low End Theory" was their sophomore album that labeled them as legends. Through this album many producers such as Common, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Jill Scott, and The Roots, sampled a piece of this acknowledged album. As the group split up in the late 1990's, each member continued to expand their music talents on their own. Reuniting in 2004, they headlined in Rock The Bells creating a outstanding come back. We relive their dynasty by playing their songs online or hearing other artists rendering some of their beats. We hope to see more work from the three hip hop gurus that have made an impact in the music game and altered the scene forever.
