Within Vans anniversary week, the footwear icon will be releasing an additional collaboration to its collection as it introduces another project with the Japanese label, Wacko Maria. Continuing the on-going relationship, Vans Vault will be showcasing a premium rendition of the beloved Authentic model that ties in Wacko Maria’s eclectic aesthetic. Designer and founder of Wacko Maria, Atsuhiko Mori, wanted to create a fashion label that highlights his love for Western society and his Japanese roots. He utilizes his love for music and art of both cultures to create his one-of-a-kind pieces. Vans’ rich history is filled with Western influences as it came into fruition within Southern California. Just like Wacko Maria, art and music are also a key to Vans’ legendary upbringing as the owners held art competitions and hosted a musical festival (known as Warped Tour) for many years.

The two fashion labels first started working together during the summer of 2020 as they released their first-ever sneaker collaboration. With a successful launch, they have come together once again to release their rendition of the Authentic. This sneaker will be compromised with premium qualities that follow Vans Vault’s core ethos. The side panels are constructed with canvas fabrication with luxe details including a heavyweight finish. A vibrant color palette is decorated with a checkered record disk paying tribute to Wacko Maria’s and Vans’ love for music. What is usually constructed with canvas, the toe box and tongue are met with thick suede for a clean finish. Along with its premium upper, we see the signature vulcanized rubber protecting the inner foam cushioning which contributes to its lifelong comfort. The Authentic LX will be available in three colorways and sport the same motifs: Pink, Baby Blue, and Classic White. The loyal following behind Wacko Maria and Vans emphasizes its hyped release, thus we suspect it will have a successful and exclusive launch.
