Acne Studios
Acne Studios
Acne Studios originally came from a creative collective called ACNE that focused on film, graphic designs, and advertising. Co-founder of ACNE, Jonny Johansson, started creating raw denim jeans for his friends and family, featuring the iconic red stitching well known to society today. News quickly spread about the custom jeans, allowing Johansson to venture into apparel. In 2006, Acne Studios became a stand-alone entity and progressed into the fashion industry. Since then, the company has created men’s and women’s ready-to-wear apparel and accessories.
Jonny Johansson has taken his interest in photography, art, and architecture and developed a collection of clothing with these interests in mind. The use of eclectic and particular materials is a key ingredient in Acne Studios’ work, as well as an emphasis on tailoring and details when it comes to the use of fabric and designs. Each piece created with Acne Studios portrays an honest, raw, and contemporary image, an ideology Johansson wanted to pursue and challenge with clothing.
The Swedish label has influenced the fashion industry and has caught the attention of prominent celebrities and brands. NBA star Russell Westbrook has recently teamed up with the brand as well as Swedish outdoor apparel company Fjällräven.
