Nike Dunk Low 'Mica Green' Release May 16th
Haven Neiman
The imitable Nike Dunk sneaker first debuted in 1985 as a basketball sneaker. The design caught the world’s attention for its color-blocking aesthetic, and the design grew to unify subcultures of fashion, music, art, and sport over a non-linear storyline. The sneaker made its introduction during the golden age of basketball while NBA legends like Michael Jordan were still on the court. The design quickly made its name as a household basketball sneaker. It was initially marketed towards some of the best college basketball teams at the time in the ‘Be True to Your School’ Pack. This pack spotlighted the following college basketball teams: The University of Iowa, the University of Kentucky, the University of Michigan, Georgetown, St. John’s, UNLV, and Syracuse.
The Nike Dunk’s legacy is nothing short of tumultuous, as the sneaker’s most recent revival has been prevalent in recent years. With that, Nike introduces the latest iteration of the iconic Nike Dunk Low, just in time for spring. This new premium edition is perfect for the transitional months.
The sneaker arrives distressed in a blend of Mica Green, Sail, and Photon Dust. A mixture of canvas and textured leather is spread within the upper. The Swoosh is accented in tumbled leather, while hits of Mica Green is also on the woven tongue label and embroidered on the heel. The encapsulated foam midsole is supported by a rubber outsole for a finished look.
