In honor of Women's History Month, Los Angeles based designer, Melody Ehsani,  and Jordan Brand are teaming up to bring back the Women’s Jordan OG basketball shoe. The silhouette was originally introduced back in 1998 and shares similarities to Air Jordan 13. Ehsani has been inspired by basketball and basketball players ever since she was a young girl and recognized the power of sports and the impact it had on the community. As Ehsani’s second Jordan collaboration, she went with a more classic design to focus on the importance of the original release of the 1998 shoe and to honor MJ himself.

Melody Ehsani started off her career when she dropped out of law school and discovered product design. She started taking classes for product design and interning at a sneaker company. From her internship, she learned how to design shoes and really discovered her passion for the industry. She then moved to China to learn the firsthand process of sneaker making and design. After six months, she made her first collection of women’s sandals and heels. Ehsani is primarily known for her store Melody Ehsani located on Fairfax Avenue. Her footwear is focused on primary reptile-like print in various shades and colors. Back in 2019, Ehsani had her first collab with the Jordan Brand by releasing the Air Jordan 1 Mid in an array of primary hues and introduced herself as another female fashion trailblazer. 

The Air Jordan OG SP x Melody Ehsani symbolizes women’s excellence on and off the basketball court. Ehsani wanted to reintroduce the shoe in a classic way and let the legacy speak for itself. The black and infrared shoe is highlighted by a cherry detailing, which is a symbol of abundance, fertility and protection. On the inside of the tongue, Ehsani left a note for all the ladies who wear it about the meaning of the cherry and the importance of Women power.
