Streetwear-inspired creative collective Brain Dead was first brought onto the scene in 2014 by designers Kyle Ng and Ed Davis. The label intertwined concepts of post-punk, underground comics, skateboarding, and the general concept of subcultures. Inspired by those who consume it, Kyle Ng and Ed Davis find inspiration from unexpected places with their extreme and unique mindsets. Brain Dead is easily recognizable by its bold and disruptive graphics placed on a selection of t-shirts, hoodies, and accessories.
Work apparel manufacturer Dickies made its debut 100 years ago in 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas. The company began by selling denim bib overalls to farmers and ranch hands around the Southwest. The brand continued to grow, selling more offerings but still sticking true to its premium denim offerings. Every pair that comes out of Dickies embodies the spirit of American workwear, and the brand itself celebrates and embraces the community of makers and those shaping their own path.
With that, Brain Dead and Dickies collide in a second capsule collection. This Artisanal Fabrications collection features a range of unique silhouettes that merges Dickies’ workwear heritage with Brain Dead’s unique designs and ideals. The co-branded workwear collection represents mutual spirit and respect for creativity and community. A pair of Dickies can be applied to any subculture, such as skating, music, or even art. The Brain Dead x Dickies Gardening Jacket is featured in this second collaborative collection, and perfectly captures the aesthetics of both brands. Cut from cotton, the outerwear silhouette features a collaborative button-down closure and a woven label at the hem. Two front pockets and an embroidered collaborative patch are seen at the chest. Embroidered branding and graphics at the rear make an impression, while the all-over bleach splatter completes the look.
Another stand-out item featured in the capsule is the Brain Dead x Dickies Embroidered Painters Cap. The cotton-cut silhouette spotlights a flat brim paired exposed stitching at the seams. At the face of the cap is an embroidered Brain Dead x Dickies graphic that offers additional dimension. The all-over splatter detailing finishes the rest of the look. Another must-have apparel item in this capsule is the Brain Dead x Dickies Hickory Striped Billow Pant. The cotton-cut pants are unique in their aesthetic thanks to the Brain Dead x Dickies graphic at the left thigh and the all-over stripe pattern. For a functional touch are belt loops, side pockets, dual rear pockets, and a zip fly.
