Maison Mihara Yasuhiro FW20 | A New Iteration of the OG Sole
Marissa Villamor
Since its inception, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro has been known for its unique aesthetic in both footwear and menswear. The namesake label of Maison Mihara Yasuhiro started in 1997 initially as a footwear brand but later expanded into menswear.
Yasuhiro gained his design experience through his education at Tama Art University located in Tokyo, Japan. Through his schooling, he started making different sneakers and shoes which led him to create his own shop called “archi doom” where he focused on selling shoes. After Yasuhiro graduated, he renamed “archi doom” into his namesake label where his career began to take off.
Maison Mihara Yasuhiro focuses on bringing people joy by providing unique and playful themes to each of his seasonal collections. The brand’s style can be described as having a unique aesthetic, utilizing high quality and sophisticated textiles. The Japanese-label can also be seen pulling inspiration from American culture with its silhouettes, textiles and styles.
In 1999, Yasuhiro released its first clothing collection during Tokyo Fashion Week. Since then, the label has been producing high-end menswear and footwear for over 20 years and doesn't show signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Fall Winter 2020 collection #Untitled uses a variety of Fall colorways including beige, brown, purple and orange, with some discoloration done by bleaching. The collection includes brand new models of its OG Sole using brand-original fabrics and finely woven materials. The silhouettes include both low and high top models with the label’s signature squiggly rubber sole and include both monochromatic pairs and asymmetrical color-blocking pairs.
Their signature “MMY” branding is located on the quarter panel of the silhouette with its recognizable white top-stitching and thick melted rubber midsole.
