Our Latest Brand Roster Addition: KidSuper Studios
Chelsie Rendon
Growing up in New York City, the traditional idea of the popular kids was quickly changed in the mind of Colm Dillane as he moved from the midwest to the big city. Jocks and cheerleaders didn’t necessarily run the school but instead, fashion did. It became apparent to Dillane that apparel was the driving force behind popularity along with money. With this in mind, he had the drive to make his own brand and began spray painting shirts for fun. With time, friends and other people asked for t-shirts which led to the development of his first label, Brick Over t-shirts.
But as Dillane grew up, so did his artistry, talents, and goals. While living in Brazil for soccer, he created the name KidSuper and loved how the name can be applied to a variety of categories. This was the beginning of the brand and Dillane would move forward with the name. It was clear that he had a passion for clothing and KidSuper emphasized his talents. During his college years, he pursued the brand and opened up a store in Brooklyn. Inspired by the Andy Warhol lifestyle, he soon became a staple within New York’s fashion scene. But his talents didn’t stop there, he was then asked by others to create art for albums and music videos. This led to art shows and a bigger focus on his trade, making him push his brand into high-end fashion.
KidSuper Studios’ theme is quite distinct as Dillane takes an unconventional approach with his unique and playful designs. Every piece he creates is one-of-a-kind as they highlight his artwork and premium craftsmanship. Many of his apparel collections include cut and sewn processes and intricate stitching. With a variety of ready-to-wear pieces, he mostly sticks to statement pieces that grab people’s attention. These pieces are what Dillane truly strives for as they take on an untraditional sense of fashion.
The latest delivery from KidSuper Studios includes stand-out pieces as they encapsulate Dillane’s artistic skills. The KidSuper Studios’ collection, ‘Running As Fast As You Can,’ highlights a theme that is quite abstract as varying faces, characters, and landscape decorate clothing. In order to make the pieces shine, the construction is crucial as the development takes on individual stitching and varied fabrics. A prime example of this premium development is the Desert Landscape set. Completely encased with high-quality denim, each color is strategically sewn together to create its scene. The patchwork design is met with embroidered details to accent the appearance. Along with the desert, the same process is utilized within the Farm Landscape set. The imagery placed upon the pants and jacket is elevated with intricate stitching and meticulous craftsmanship.
Utilizing the collection’s name, the Running as Fast as You Can Tee makes its debut as abstract characters and vibrant colors are found upon a cotton tee. This graphic also makes its way upon the Running Cargo Trousers, making them a statement piece with any outfit. The trousers and tee both share a neutral background allowing the graphic to truly stand out. We see the same ideology within the Girl Painting Tee. Dillane’s illustration is the main focal point as swatches of colorful paint construct a women’s face. The theme of faces is common throughout the collection as seen on the Faces Camo Hoodie. Designed in two colorways, Blue and Green, the jackets are fully embraced by a facial pattern. Its loud and eye-catching design plays with familiar aesthetics within the streetwear industry but ultimately reflects Dillane’s passion for art and fashion. The jackets are constructed with thick french terry cotton, making its hue more vibrant and complexion soft to the touch. KidSuper branding is embroidered upon the backside while a full-length double zipper and ribbed-knitted trims complete its design.
