Besides its overall aesthetic, Comme des Garçons PLAY is also revered for its iconic bug-eyed red heart motif, which has become the face of the entire line. Comme des Garçons PLAY now introduces a new apparel collaboration, this time with French street artist Invader. The anonymous French street artist is known for his mosaics inspired by the pixelated art of the 1970s and 1980s 8-bit games, many of which are inspired by the aliens from iconic arcade games like Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Super Mario Bros. This artwork has been in Paris and beyond for the past two decades. This new collaboration introduces a selection of short-sleeved t-shirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, pullovers, cardigans, and hoodies. Available in men’s and women’s sizing, this apparel is also treated with the signature stitched bug-eyed red heart motif. Now, it receives a slight variation thanks to Invader’s unique aesthetic. The red heart is now replaced with a custom-designed pixel version in the style of Invader’s unique 8-bit artworks.

Stand-out silhouettes in this collaboration include the Comme des Garçons PLAY x The Artist Invader T-Shirt. Available in grey, white, and black, this silhouette is cut entirely from cotton and has a ribbed neckline for added dimension. The embroidered pixelated bug-eyed red heart motif at the chest rounds out the rest of the design. The Comme des Garçons PLAY x The Artist Invader Cardigan is also available in black, grey, and camel. The silhouette is cut entirely from premium wool and utilizes rib-knit trims within the button-up closure, neckline, cuffs, and hem. The pixelated stitched bug-eyed red heart at the chest completes the rest of the look.
