Puma R698 ‘Reverse Classics’

Legendary athleisure and footwear label Puma was first brought onto the scene almost 100 years ago in the mid-1900s. The label is primarily known for its iconic Puma logo paired with the iconic Puma Formstrip residing at the side panel of each shoe. ‘Puma’ translates to strength, agility, and endurance, a concept that is heavily reflected throughout each item brought into the brand’s repertoire. The label has since grown into one of the fashion industry's most iconic and recognizable sportswear labels. One of the reasons Puma has amassed such considerable success is due to its highly technological silhouettes. This is particularly accredited to the brand’s signature Trinomic cushioning technology.

First introduced in 1990, the system incorporated a hexagonal system in the sole that compressed and rebounded heavy loads. Once this technology was introduced, it was applied across a selection of shoes, starting with the R698 silhouette. The R698 was so comfortable and important to the brand’s repertoire that it still remains as one of the most important designs the brand has ever created. When it was first introduced to the public, the running community quickly adopted and recognized the sneaker due to its technology, and immediately became the superstar of the ‘90s running world. Both lightweight and durable in its design, over the years the sneaker has slightly adjusted its upper and shape. But its Trinomic cushioning underneath remained the same. Wearable as an everyday sneaker or for sports, the sneaker is a must-have for any collection.

PUMA R698 'REVERSE CLASSICS'

With that, Puma introduces its latest R698 silhouettes that take on a ‘Reverse Classics’ rendition. Featured in White and Black colorways, the sneakers take on a low-boot silhouette that blends textile paneling within the crisp upper. Textile also resides at the tongue for added dimension. Puma branding resides at the tongue in addition to branding and imagery at the heel. While blending concepts of skate culture, futuristic aesthetics, and surfing, the sneaker spotlights a chunky rubber outsole that is implemented with signature Trinomic cushioning technology for comfort with each step.
