WTF! Happened: Beastie Boys

Hailing from the Big Apple, the Beastie Boys have become legends in the hip hop game and music industry. Formed in 1981, Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz made up the american hip hop group. Initially starting out as a punk rock collective, the group eventually transformed into hip hop in 1984 and released hit after hit leading them to going on tour with Madonna in 1985.

After their tour with the female pop icon, they released Licensed to Ill with gained enormous public success with 40 millions records sold worldwide making them Billboards "biggest selling rap group" since 1991. From 1986-2004 they have relased a number of platinum selling albums and have become one of the most loved hip hop groups of our time.

In 2012, Adam "MCA" Yauch passed away at age 47 due to cancer. During an interview with Rolling Stones Mike D stated that a disbandment will occur due to MCA's death but open to future music projects later on. Although new material will not surface anytime soon, the group is set to release an autobiography in 2015.
