Virgil Abloh’s collaborative efforts are no secret to the fashion industry as his fashion line, Off-White, has created sought-after projects with a handful of notable brands and designers. Nike, Heron Preston, Jimmy Choo, Byredo, and IKEA are just some of the names that have worked alongside Off-White and produced sought-after projects. When Abloh introduced his latest collaborative efforts with Pioneer DJ, many anticipated its release as Abloh’s technical background was being highlighted. Graduating with a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Abloh found technology fascinating and coupled it with the world of fashion and design. Combined, he created the distinct aesthetic that we see today within his collections. The latest collection from Off-White incorporates his technical background with the help of the technology company, Pioneer. 

Founded in 1938 in Tokyo, Pioneer was initially introduced as a radio and speaker repair shop. Over time they were able to develop new entertainment products which lead to the first-ever Compact Disc player and the DVD. They soon evolved into other markets and most recently have been dominating the DJ market as they have created players for professionals and aspiring artists. Virgil and Pioneer had their first collaboration in 2019 as they introduced a multiplayer and digital mixer specifically created for Abloh and close friends. The duo is now releasing a coinciding capsule that is open to not just close friends but the public as well. The collection is inspired by the technical files and the internal structure of a DJ setup. Drawing emphasis on their ‘Sound Engineering’ logo, Abloh makes it a point that every piece unites technology and human interaction. 

Focusing on their co-branded logo, each garment features an intricate silkscreening process that elevates traditional screen printing. The Console Tee is featured in three variants, all highlighting the technological theme. Printed branding is placed at the front while the rear showcases the inner construction of classic setups and multiplayer.  Abloh’s signature arrow motif is placed throughout as it perfectly blends with the green fluorescent coloring. Coinciding with graphic tees, the collection includes a Console Hoodie and Crewneck. Developed with premium cotton, the Crewneck is designed with comfortable rib-knit trims while the Hoodie includes a kangaroo pocket for elevated leisure. The Coach Jacket introduced within the collection is one of the stand-out pieces as it perfectly combines utilitarian styles with high-fashion and modern trends. Cotton gabardine constructs the base and is processed with a distressed treatment for a vintage finish. Tactical elements include a full-length zipper closure and front welt pockets for a seamless design. 

In addition to clothing, the collection includes new headwear and fanny packs.
