Release September 4th
Garth Mariano and Matthew Evans’ love and passion for skateboarding brought them together but little did they know that their appreciation would lead to the creation of the well-known skate label, Butter Goods. The duo grew up skating and creating films showcasing their talents but as they reached adulthood they were met with the reality of the typical 9 to 5. After realizing they wanted more in life, they both quit their jobs to pursue the creation of Butter Goods. In 2008 the brand was officially introduced in Perth, Western Australia. Their authentic and nostalgic aesthetic grew their name across both Australia and the globe. Mostly known for their apparel and skate equipment, they also have a team of talented athletes to represent the brand. This helped grow their name throughout the community as they would also introduce capsules with limited runs dedicated to their athletes. Fans and aspiring skaters would take part in these launches and ultimately grow the label into the phenomena we know today.
Paying homage to the aesthetic that started it all, Butter Goods has teamed up with Puma on a collection that highlights the golden era of skateboarding and sportswear. The collection reimagines signature footwear with vintage colors and quality fabrics for a premium finish. The Basket VTG sneaker is featured in two hues, blue and orange, which is emphasized by a thick corduroy upper and contrasting suede form strip at the side panels. Classic styles are emphasized with a textured outsole, woven label at the tongue, and a gold foil motif at the heel. In addition to the Basket VTG, the collection also contains their rendition of the Slipstream Lo. The retro sneaker is designed with a leather upper, suede overlays, and tonal lining that stands out against its neutral base. Gum rubber is utilized on the outsoles for ultimate traction while referencing Butter Good’s skate heritage. The sneaker is completed with traditional foam cushioning, perforated details for breathability, and bold gold branding.
The collaborative collection also includes apparel with similar trends for a cohesive theme. A bold piece making its debut is the Track Top and Track Pants; constructed with midweight cotton, the garments feature corduroy color blocking and embroidered branding. When paired together, we see a full tracksuit that is completely reminiscent of 90s fashion. This concept is also transferred onto the Butter Goods x Puma Polo and Shorts. Geometric shapes and quality fabrication curate a perfect blend of athletic and streetwear styles. The collection also includes closet staples such as graphic tees, hoodies, ¼ zips, and a crewneck. Familiar colorways, quality materials, and sports graphics work together to achieve the ultimate nostalgic experience when worn.
