Since 2015, fashion label Rhude has become well known for reflecting modern American iconography with nostalgic references throughout each collection. Rhuigi Villaseńor founded Rhude in 2015, a menswear designer who studied art history after high school and interned for Shaun Samson. Rhuigi grew up in the Philippines and moved to Southern California with no formal training in fashion design. The menswear designer credits his mother, a tailor, to understand garments and construction. His mother taught him how to build each piece and tell stores within the garments.

Rhude is a Los Angeles-based design venture that balances luxury techniques with high-end streetwear elements. The label recreates wardrobe classics with a modern twist by sitting somewhere between high-end streetwear and contemporary menswear. Rhude incorporates premium textiles with a cut and sew construction and is well-versed in crafted authentic ready-to-wear collections that reflect modern socioeconomics and personal stories of Villaseńor’s upbringing. The label’s offerings combine signature American iconography with nostalgic references, representing a visual commentary on Los Angeles style and culture while paralleling Villaseńor’s journey. Rhude has since expanded into eyewear and women’s fashion and has been worn by countless celebrities, including Kendrick Lamar, LeBron James, Justin Bieber, and Odell Beckham.

With that being said, Americana-inspired label Rhude introduces its latest collection—SS22. Featuring signature ready-to-wear apparel, this new delivery emphasizes contemporary designs that are both casual and elevated in their aesthetics. With a vast selection of clothing that makes a statement in any wardrobe, these offerings are a must-have within any streetwear apparel collection. Included in this delivery is the Rhude Leopard Tee. This signature tee features a crew neckline aligned with screen-printed graphics and branding and is comprised entirely of authentic and high-quality cotton. This tee displays a leopard intertwined with Rhude branding, which ties together the overall aesthetic. Another offering is the Rhude Compass Tee. This tee also includes a similar aesthetic and makes a statement.

The SS22 collection also spotlights additional apparel, such as the Rhude Hotel De Rhude Tee. This graphic tee features a complete cotton-cut design and upgrades the traditional silhouette by blending contemporary and vintage American aesthetics within its screen-printed graphics. Alongside this offering is the Rhude Track Logo Tee. Also a signature cotton-cut silhouette, this design features screen-printed branding and graphics that further emphasize the vintage Americana nod blended with contemporary notions.

Rhuigi Villaseńor’s past inspiration about his childhood upbringing and transition to Los Angeles is present throughout each of his label’s offerings. His background in art history is highly prevalent in the next offering within the SS22 collection, such as the Rhude Angel L/S Tee. This long sleeve silhouette is perfect for transitioning in and out of the cooler months as it offers a long-sleeved approach. The tee features a signature crew neckline with a vintage white aesthetic that nods to the collection’s contemporary vintage inspiration. The primary spotlight of the silhouette is the screen-printed branding and graphics that comprise the chest. The tee incorporates branding intertwined with graphics such as tropical plants and religious imagery. The quote ‘With God’s Help’ is printed subtly, tying together the remainder of the aesthetic.
