Rhuigi Villaseñor’s clothing label, Rhude, has become a prominent name within the fashion industry. The designer was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. in 2001 with his family. Uncertain about his future, he pursued a career in fashion and launched his first designs online. Making its debut in a red and black colorway, his clothing embodied a paisley pattern reminiscent of traditional bandanas. To gain traction, he became friends with up-and-coming artists on MySpace. Some of these friends include Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, and even fashion designer Shayne Oliver. 

Overnight he became a sensation with floods of orders coming through his website. His company would begin to grow as many individuals enjoyed his vintage and elevated aesthetic. We can now see a-list celebrities casually wearing his designs, bolstering his name through the community. Jay-Z, The Weekend, Miguel, and Lebron James are just a few of Rhude’s supporters. The brand has risen in ranks and is now working on another iconic project with footwear giant, Puma. 

Inspired by on-and-off court styles, Rhuigi reenvisions sneakers and apparel with his minimalist and urban details. He specifically joins forces with Puma as their designs remind him of his upbringing and styles from his childhood. The apparel and sneakers emulate a sense of nostalgia for Rhuigi, making it a truly timeless capsule. 

The collection incorporates Rhuigi’s signature aesthetic upon Puma’s athletic apparel and sneakers. The Suede silhouette is introduced in a Lo and Mid-cut, following a vintage and distressed theme. Designed with a leather upper, the Mid is seen with stitched details and a worn-in rubber outsole. Its dark colorways are complemented by striped lacing and a co-branded table woven at the tongue.  The apparel follows similar neutral tones, making them applicable for any style. Puma’s signature tracksuit is reenvisioned with Rhuigi’s premium touches. A blend of polyester and cotton provides a luxe complexion while embroidered co-branding authenticates its design. Other stand-out pieces include the Puma x Rhuigi Shorts and Top. Functionality is key and the apparel’s adaptability is what makes each item unique. Quality fabrication elevates traditional designs without compromising the overall classic look.
