‘Shimmer’

When the Air Jordan 4 was introduced during the spring of 1989, the sneaker was an instant hit. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 was the second design from the now sneaker veteran. Knowing its success, the silhouette easily trailblazed footwear history as its signature attributes are highly recognizable and desired by both basketball fans and footwear enthusiasts. 32 years later since its inception, we have been introduced to new colorways, constructions, and collaborations of the shoe, making it still one of the most popular designs to this day. 

Some of the most notable collaborations to date include the ‘Whalburgers’ in partnership with renowned actor, Mark Wahlberg and the 2015 collaboration between Eminem, Carhartt, and Jordan Brand. These projects were immensely sought-after due to their limited availability and classic names. But in addition to top partnerships, some of the more traditional colors are still very popular such as the ‘Bred,’ ‘Fire Red,’ ‘White Oreo,’ and ‘Black Cat’ to name a few. But most recently, the fashion label has unveiled its latest colorway just for women which includes neutral tones and honors women around the world. 

Nicknamed ‘Shimmer,’ the Air Jordan 4 features all of its signature elements including a complete smooth nubuck upper which is contrasted by transparent TPU wings that hold down the laces for a secure and lightweight fit. Working in tandem with the soft palette we see white-colored webbing on the side panels and a tonal rubber outsole. Classic branding can be seen at the heel while the tongue highlights a metallic version of the iconic Jumpman emblem. This motif perfectly complements the natural tones all while standing out for a unique finish. Lastly, the 4 includes classic Air technology throughout the midsole and emphasized at the heel as seen with the transparent bubble window.
