In celebration of the upcoming Nike Air Max Day this Sunday, 3/26, our Customer Development Manager Elisa sat down with fellow Las Vegas local and FEATURE District Manager Kevin to gather his thoughts on this annual celebration and the release of the Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 Original ‘Big Bubble.’

To start, Elisa asked Kevin how long he’s been collecting Air Max sneakers for. Kevin said, “So growing up, I used to have two chances to get a new pair of shoes a year. It was the start of the school year and then around my birthday. So then I would just go on the websites online and try to figure out what was coming out around that time, and that’s how I started my collection up.” To Kevin, Air Max Month gives Nike a chance to celebrate iconic silhouettes that would give collectors like them a chance to be able to buy them. The Nike Air Max 1 '85 Original 'Big Bubble' is the perfect opportunity. When asked about this year’s Air Max 1 release in celebration of Air Max Day, Kevin said, “It’s an iconic colorway. For those who don’t know, it was originally supposed to come with this size bubble, but due to production issues, they couldn’t release it. With today’s technology, they were able to put it on the shoe.”

Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 Original ‘Big Bubble’

Nike is celebrating Air Max Month and Air Max Day with a bang this year with the official re-release of the Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 Original in a ‘Big Bubble’ iteration as an ode to the original design, where a burst bubble wasn’t the end of the road, just the first step to a finished product. This nostalgic sneaker is releasing in men’s and women’s sizing, and makes its debut in its original colorway of the revolutionary running sneaker icon. This retro release utilizes an upper built from a blend of breathable mesh, synthetic suede overlays, and contrasting notes of University Red that can be found on the mudguard and signature Swoosh. Additional accents are at the molded eyelets and Nike Air branding at the tongue and heel overlays. The exposed Air-sole unit is nestled in the heel, while the polyurethane midsole and rubber outsole underneath protect the rest of the look.
