Fashion designer and sneaker enthusiast Maison Mihara Yasuhiro grew up fascinated with the art and development of fashion. During his time at Tama Art University, Yasuhiro developed an appreciation for footwear while working part-time at a factory producing shoes. This then solidified his passion for footwear and he set out to create shoes following his style of juxtaposition principles. Archi doom was his first creation while attending University but unfortunately had a short life span. Once he graduated from college, Yasuhiro rebranded his footwear label and settled on using his name. The brand focuses on irregularities and exaggerations that aren’t typically found within footwear. Yasuhiro’s store in Tokyo allowed him to grow, eventually obtaining the eye of iconic brand PUMA. From that moment forth, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro’s brand has grown exponentially and is praised throughout the fashion industry.
Shoes created by Yasuhiro utilize an overemphasized style mixed with Western society. Familiarities are found throughout his collection, yet they are unique and a true piece of art. Within the Spring/Summer 20021 Collection, we are introduced to the latest designs showcasing a traditional paisley pattern and muted color palettes. A standout piece within the collection is the Peterson Hi/Low Bandana print. The popularized paisley/bandana pattern encompasses the base in a white and black color scape. The Baker Multicolor is shown in two colorways contrasting one another; a bright rainbow design versus a monochromatic grey. Within the same silhouette, the Baker Overdyed Canvas presents muted colors of green and grey. The washed-out design provides a vintage and worn-in look. Altogether, they showcase the signature exaggerated rubber soles and large knitted cotton laces to complete the piece of footwear. Yasuhiro believes his work is a piece of art and makes sure to showcase that within his footwear; therefore, the expression of elaborate details and vintage aesthetic speaks true to his fashion and art beliefs.
