Founded in 2014 by Kyle Ng and Ed Davis, Brain Dead is a creative collective of artists and designers from around the world. The concept of Brain Dead is that the brand is not one person or one idea; it sits in the space between people. Pulling inspiration from California’s underground subculture groups, Brain Dead focuses on the spirit of post-punk, comics and skateboarding groups. This spirit plays a prominent role in each collection Brain Dead produces with its overall aesthetic and DIY feel. Brain Dead has since become a staple in the fashion industry with its signature disruptive and thought-provoking graphics.
For Brain Dead’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection, they partner up with a mix of artists including Gustavo Eandi, Keresztesi Botond, Kaloe Kaaikala for its utility wear inspired collection. The label’s latest collection features a variety of workwear apparel utilizing Brain Dead’s signature bold and colorful aesthetic. The capsule includes a mix of relaxed and comfortable fits from fleeces and cargo pants, with attention to rock climbing apparel, a passion of creator Kyle Ng. The Pre-Fall 2020 capsule also introduces its new custom fleece program and produces 100x better quality then previous fleece.
Brain Dead’s Pre-Fall capsule features a mix of bright colors from green, orange, pink and blue, including artwork throughout from different creators. Stand out pieces in the collection include Brain Dead’s Brain Eyes Cardigan with a waffle-like pattern and a mini-patch on the chest; Brain Dead’s Post Earth Syndrome Fur Fleece which features a multi-color shaded fur fleece with two zip pockets and a front zip opening with a side neck zip and a front PBC patch; and Brain Dead’s Post Earth Syndrome Scuba Neck Fleece which is made from a scuba neck fleece that utilizes a drop shoulder and nylon sleeve patches.
