French fashion house Maison Margiela, formerly known as Maison Martin Margiela, was founded in 1988 in Paris, France, by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The current Creative Director of Maison Margiela is British fashion designer John Galliano. Margiela's namesake label focuses on producing the most delicate pieces of menswear and womenswear apparel, jewelry, footwear, and cult favorite REPLICA fragrances. Defined as avant-garde, the couture fashion house is well-versed in creating artisanal out-of-the-box elements intertwined with detailed tailoring and deconstructed DIY-themed pieces. Maison Margiela embraces the philosophy that fashion is an artistic expression.
