When the Bulls chose Jordan in the 1984 draft, the suspense was at an all-time high as he was the third overall pick and showed immense potential. His future looked promising and it proved to be so as he excelled within the sport with his unmatched athleticism and partnerships. Nike also saw his potential and within one year of his official time in the league, he signed a contract with the footwear powerhouse. This commitment contributed to the legendary footwear we know today as Jordan Brand. Since the partnership, they have created over 20 silhouettes and have yet to show any signs of slowing down. 

Making its reintroduction within the 2021 line-up, the ‘Raging Bull’ is set to release on April 10th. Originally debuting in 2009, the colorway pays homage to Michael Jordan’s time spent with the Chicago Bulls. The distinct red and black hues were seen upon two Jordan 5’s as the shoe was initially released in a 3M iteration set, also known as the ‘Toro Bravo’ Pack. The driving force behind the shoe’s success was the very specific red utilized within its creation. It was identical to the NBA team and truly represented the historic time Jordan spent in Chicago. Legendary athletes including Nate Robinson, Jordan Crawford, and PJ Tucker have championed the sneaker on the court while celebrities including Drake can be seen wearing them during events. 

The ‘Raging Bull’ has been highly anticipated since its teaser announcement in 2020. Now we can officially see a release date and the signature design. In totality, the sneaker looks like the original but has fine-tuned details to elevate its appearance. Fabrics including a premium suede upper embody the rich red colorway while a reflective silver tongue contrast the hue. The black outsole is accented with a  transparent rubber while the classic heel window highlights Nike’s Air cushioning. Featured attributes also include the lace lock technology and the mesh side panels. To complete the sneaker’s design, the shoe will be packaged in a wood patterned box reminiscent of the original packaging and the hardwood floorings of the basketball court.
