Nike Dunk Low 'Sisterhood - Team Red' Release February 23rd

Haven Neiman

Best known for its simplistic color-blocking aesthetic, the Nike Dunk made its introduction in 1985 as a basketball sneaker. By unifying concepts of pop culture, fashion, music, and art within its non-linear story, this sneaker was first released during the golden age of basketball while legends like Michael Jordan were still on the court. They made a name for themselves as a household sneaker in the world of basketball. Still, the Nike Dunk made an even further impression as it became marketed for some of the best college basketball teams through the iconic ‘Be True to Your School’ Pack through the following colleges: The University of Iowa, University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, Georgetown, St. John’s, UNLV, and Syracuse.

The premium sneaker has gone through a long journey, while its most recent revival has been prevalent in the last few years after a dormant period of time. With that, Nike introduces its latest Nike Dunk iteration: the Nike Dunk Low Women’s ‘Sisterhood - Team Red.’ The sneaker arrives in a blend of Sail, Team Red, Black, and Muslin hues. Canvas overlays are placed, while the prevalent ‘Just Do It’ treatment is seen throughout the design. Contrasting trimming can be seen at the Swooshes and rear heel tabs. Gilded embellishments and gold-finished lace dubraes are molded into the shape of gold medals and split between a basketball on the right shoe and a Nike logo on the left. The year 2023 in Roman numerals is written out at the lateral heels. The aged midsole, perforated toe box, and rubber outsoles wrap up the design.
