Noon Goons takes classic streetwear designs and takes it one step further by introducing luxe materials and mature finishes. Originally introduced in 2016, founder and creator, Kurt Narmore, took inspiration from his childhood roots growing up in Southern California to provide a unique take on clothing. Grasping small influences from a variety of subcultures, we see familiar aesthetics from skate, punk, and surf communities. With a prominent surf history, Narmore utilized the slang term ‘Noon Goon’ as the name of his line. This term references tourist or non-local surfers that show up at noon long after the actual surfers have already hit the waves. The beach has a special place for Narmore so it is no surprise that he and his team contribute to clean-ups and sustainable practices. They currently utilize recyclable cardboard packing and a waterless, vegetable-based dying process. These practices elevate the brand’s repertoire as they focus on premium applications, landing them a more prominent seat within high fashion. Noon Goons continues to provide functional everyday wardrobe staples in addition to venturing into new projects and developments. 

The most recent collection includes the fashion label’s first-ever footwear design. Partnering up with Vault by Vans, Noon Goons is set to release exclusive silhouettes reminiscent of both brands. Growing up on the West coast it was common for Narmore to casually wear Vans as the footwear powerhouse also has deep roots in California. It seems only fitting that they partner up, and now they are rendering classic silhouettes to appeal to both of their audiences. The collection celebrates their skate heritage and high-end practices. Many sneakers and fashion enthusiasts have eagerly anticipated this release as it will be the first step for Noon Goons to enter the footwear industry. 

Within the capsule we see three classic Vans sneakers taking on individualistic styles that are contemporary and luxe. Anchoring the collection, a rendered version of the traditional Sk8-Hi sneaker is dressed in premium leather within the upper which is decorated with a snakeskin overlay adding a textured element to its base. To contrast the clean colored leather, foxing stripes are stitched within the side panels which coincides with the embroidered Noon Goons logo upon the heel. The familiar colorway and design are reversed within the Old Skool silhouette as a black leather base is accented with white stripes. The upper is also met with the snakeskin texture adding to its luxe finish. Finally, the capsule includes the classic Slip-On which follows Noon Goons’ high-end aesthetic. A navy velvet constructs the upper which pairs perfectly with the blacked-out rubber outsole. Leopard print insoles give the sneakers an unexpected twist which references the fashion label’s most recent Spring ‘21 collection. Each shoe is constructed with Van’s signature foam cushioning providing ultimate comfort during times of wear. This exclusive release can only be obtained through selected sneaker boutiques, making the sneaker even more hyped and limited.
