Casablanca is a menswear brand with a specific aesthetic reminiscent of summer vacations, yacht parties, and tennis sporting events. Their unique designs are easily distinguishable against the array of mens clothing as they utilize crisp and clean white silhouettes with varying patterns and pastel combinations. The use of silk and quality fabrication is key within each collection as they want to emulate the feelings of relaxation and luxury. With this particular combination we can confidently say that Casablanca successfully combines leisurewear with luxe and refined finishes. When Casablanca was given the opportunity to work with renowned footwear giant, New Balance, they jumped on the opportunity to provide a new silhouette that combines both of their styles.
First released during Paris Fashion Week in 2020, the New Balance 327 model came to life and displayed refined details commonly found within Casablanca’s repertoire. The 327 sneaker is a freshly developed design by Charlotte Lee, a United Kingdom designer who specializes in the creation of new silhouettes. She wanted a shoe that reflected the fashion label but also stick true to the essence of New Balance. Lee was inspired by the 320 model and Super Chomp of the 70s - when combined, we find the 327. An athletic looking shoe with refined detailing perfect for casual and sophisticated wear. This was perfect for Casablanca as it fit right within their aesthetic and could be adapted within their collections.
This March, Casablanca and New Balance will be releasing an updated version of the 327 model by utilizing monogram patterns within its overlays. The colorways stick true to Casablanca signature styles as a crips white base is decorated with pastel pinks and bright green. Along with the newly conceptualized 327, both labels also incorporate a new sneaker that is incredibly similar. The 237 model, not to be confused with the 327, is identical within its upper but differences can be seen within the sole. The 327 sees an exaggerated waffle sole that creeps upon the toebox and heel while the 237 shines light on the foam platform sole. Both models see a perforated leather upper and the signature ‘N’ motif stitched upon the side panels. Exclusive branding is woven upon the tongues while metal gold aglets tie in the luxurious aesthetic.
