New Arrivals: Neighborhood

Haven Neiman

Motorcycle enthusiast Shinsuke Takizawa established Neighborhood, otherwise known as NBHD, in 1994. He noticed Western influences on the Japanese streetwear market and was also inspired by biker gang culture and London’s punk scenes. Noticing the climate of the current fashion industry, he introduced Neighborhood as a Japanese streetwear brand that honors its mission to ‘Craft with Pride.’ By drawing inspiration from motorcycle, punk, and military cultures, Neighborhood is often incorporating their well-used bandana print throughout each offering. Grunge aesthetics are plentiful within the brand, along with overall counter-cultures like biker culture, rock and roll culture, punk culture, and more.

With that, Neighborhood introduces its latest delivery. Consisting of shirts, shorts, socks, and varying home goods, these new arrivals continue the brand’s commitment to grunge and motorcycle-influenced counterculture. This new collection is the third crossover between Neighborhood and world-renowned tattoo artist Dr. Woo. The Neighborhood x Dr. Woo Shirt is cut from premium cotton and spotlights all-over custom Dr. Woo graphics. The chest patch pocket adds a functional touch while being treated with a woven label. The button-down closure connects to a pointed collar, securing the overall fit. The Neighborhood x Dr. Woo Shorts pair seamlessly with its top counterpart. Also cut from cotton, the shorts feature a drawstring waistband that allows the fit to be adjusted. The same graphics are placed, while the side pockets and rear welt pocket finish the design.

Another stand-out apparel item from this delivery is the Nel Check Shirt. Authentic grunge aesthetics are placed in this silhouette. Featuring a complete cotton construction, the shirt spotlights double-stitched patch pockets at the chest for functionality. The all-over plaid print adds definition to the design, while the woven brand label resides in the left chest pocket. The button-down closure paired with the detailed pointed collar secures the fit. This new delivery continues with another Dr. Woo offering. The Neighborhood x Dr. Woo Kakigoriman Table Lamp is made in collaboration with premium Japanese toy manufacturer Medicom Toy for Dr. Woo and Edison Chen’s collaborative art project OBJECTIVE. Made from plastic, this battery-operated table lamp proudly displays a cheeky character, making an impression in any space.
