The iconic Nike Air Max 1 was first debuted in 1987 by a young Tinker Hatfield. Hatfield had just graduated from the University of Oregon as an architecture student, and was hired by Nike to make something out of this new ‘Air’ technology. Ever heard of it? We can thank the invention of Nike’s Air technology to former NASA aeronautical engineer Frank Rudy. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into a legendary footwear icon. The Air Max 1 remains a reimagined and retooled silhouette, but its heritage remains intact. The sneaker sits between all facets of entertainment while continuing to identify moments in culture. It keeps its technology relevant while still remaining a pillar in sneaker culture. The Air Max 1 marked the first of the remaining Air Max lineage descendants and remained one of the most iconic sneaker models.
With that, Nike introduces the release of the Air Max 1 ‘Corduroy.’ Releasing on Friday, March 17th, this sneaker uses the corduroy material by placing it entirely throughout the upper. Contrasting hits are seen at the woven tongue label and Swoosh. A signature exposed Air Max bubble can be found at the heel for optimal cushioning, while a rubber outsole wraps up the remainder of the sneaker.
