Just Arrived: Gallery Dept.

Haven Neiman

What began with a hand-sewn denim poncho sold from his own back to the iconic Johnny Depp’s stylist, Josue Thomas officially established the clothing brand Gallery Dept. in 2017.  Josue Thomas’ lifelong love of apparel was inspired by concepts of art, streetwear culture, vintage fashion, and his close eye on his parent’s raw creative skills. Inspired by the concepts of actual gallery departments, the streetwear label’s goal is to repurpose garments into something entirely new and different, all while not sacrificing quality or artistic integrity. Gallery Dept. is somewhere between being a streetwear label, neighborhood tailor, and vintage store. Josue Thomas’ keen eye and his passion for garment-making has contributed to the massive growth and notoriety of the brand.

Gallery Dept. is well-versed in crafting upcycled apparel such as t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, denim jackets, sweaters, and crew necks, and is primarily known for their denim jeans and denim flared jeans that often feature paint splatters. On the flip side, the brand has also created accessories and headwear such as tote bags, baseball caps, bucket hats, backpacks, shoulder bags, trucker hats, wallet hats, and more. One stand-out apparel item from this new collection is the LA Flare Carpenter. Inspired by vintage streetwear, this denim essential is cut from cotton and made for a slimmer fit and wider leg opening. Each pair has distressing and paint splatter markings that make it unique in its entirety. The five-pocket design includes a zip/button fly paired with reinforced belt loops for a functional touch.

The latest arrivals from the iconic vintage streetwear label also include the new Gallery Dept. Zuma Vacation Shorts. Composed of a blend of polyester, these must-have vacation-inspired shorts are perfect for incorporating into the remainder of your summer wardrobe rotation. The silhouette includes side pockets and an elastic waistband for functionality and comfort. The back pocket also contributes to the notion, while the primary spotlighting of the look includes the screen-printed branding and tropical graphics that are placed throughout the rest of the look. Additionally, the G. Ball Crewneck is a must-have for any apparel collection. The cotton-cut silhouette features ribbed trims along with a signature Josue Thomas woven label at the left cuff. The primary spotlight of the silhouette is the screen-printed grunge 8-ball-inspired graphics at the front with phrasing at the rear.
