The FEATURE 'Hidden Gems' series highlights local businesses through FEATURE's lens of music, fashion, and art. As a Las Vegas-born company, we amplify local businesses that align with our values and DNA.

In the latest edition of our Hidden Gems series, we sat down with Matty Salazar, founder and creator of Todo Bien, to talk about his business and understand how his brand became so successful in such a short period of time. Matty’s vision for Todo Bien is deeply influenced by his Latin heritage, aiming to present the true essence of central Mexico through its vibrant atmosphere and authenticity. From the crafted cocktails to the handpicked decor, every element of Todo Bien tells a story. Matty's passion for creating a warm, inviting space that celebrates cultural traditions and community connection shines through in every aspect of the bar. What sparked the idea for Todo Bien? How did you come up with its concept?

Marty Salazar

Growing up in a Latin household, recipes from drinks to food have always been kind of the foundation of our family. Something that I wanted to focus on for Todo Bien was a lot of the real culture that I feel depicts central Mexico. I really wanted to dive into the roots of our culture, from the recipes to the imported goods we use. It's something that I wanted to show in a new way.

Crafted drinks seem to be at the heart of Todo Bien, how do you go about creating the signature cocktails that stand out?

Marty Salazar

We have an amazing mixologist Rylan, who's a well-versed and known mixologist in town who travels the world, studying the craft and Mixology. Together we've culminated some classic Mexican recipes and added his flair to it. I've been really excited with what he's done with traditional styles and drinks with adding our Agave and our Mexican flair to each cocktail.

What role does the decor and ambiance play in the overall experience at Todo Bien?

Marty Salazar

The decor in Todo Bien is probably number two after the cocktails. We really wanted to create a space that's warm, inviting, and really depicts the culture in a very traditional central Mexico type of way. Most of the wood pieces in here are over 100 years old, hand-picked from Mexico and West Texas. It's been a really cool experience to put all this together. Everything from the art to the rugs that you see hanging on the wall are all from Mexico. They all tell a story, we wanted to create a space that makes you want to congregate here.

How has the Las Vegas community responded to Todo Bien and what impact has it had on the bar's success?

Marty Salazar

The Las Vegas community has been extremely great to Todo Bien. It's been huge and we're so grateful for that. It's become a really special place for locals. Coming into the project, it's kind of nerve racking for any business owner to predict how you feel people are going to react to the brand. I think we hit it at the right time where the community is super receptive to new things and spaces. I think we've created something in town that people can really come to and feel at home and so far, it's been great. We're super grateful for the community, and we look forward to doing a lot more within the community.

Can you tell us about the collaborative t-shirt created with FEATURE by designer Blaze Brooks? What was the inspiration behind the project?

Marty Salazar

The inspiration behind our Hidden Gems collab with Blaze Brooks really kind of embodies what Todo Bien is about. At the bottom of the creative you see someone either passed out or taking a nap. He's dreaming about the world we depict as a paradise. You see our drink in there you see the candles, you see the plants. Creating Todo Bien and the look and feel, we wanted to take people out of Vegas and bring them into paradise. In the picture, you see that he's lying down in the desert. So I feel like it's a true resemblance of what we do, taking you out of the norm and stepping you into paradise.

Matty Salazar’s journey with Todo Bien is a testament to the power of cultural roots, community, and creativity. His story is one of passion and dedication, creating a space where people can gather, enjoy, and feel a sense of belonging. We’re excited to see what the future holds for Todo Bien.
