WTF! Happened: De la Soul
4
Kelvin Mercer, David Jude Jolicoeur and Vincent Mason created De La Soul. Formed in 1987 in Long Island, New York, their jazz rap and alternative hip hop flooded the music stream with storm. Innovative rhymes and playful wordplay played in their favor through their music. Their major hit, "Me, Myself, and I" made them commercially successful. Years later they've released albums but have yet to top their first. In the early 2000's they planned on releasing a trilogy of albums but only managed to release two of the three. Now De la Soul is known for collaborating with artists such as the Gorillaz and have performed at Rock The Bells alongside with Nas, A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde. They promised to release their eighth and final album this year but have yet to put out any material.
