Encompassing both streetwear and high fashion, Undercover has been a staple in the industry since its inception in 1990. Created by iconic Japanese designer Jun Takahashi, he is well known for his work under Rei Kawakuno of Comme des Garcons and playing in a tribute band “Tokyo Sex Pistols.” Takahashi delivers unique collections inspired by his past and interest in American rock bands through all of his experiences. 

Undercover captures the essence of streetwear and high fashion while incorporating American punk-rock inspiration. The brand’s mantra is “We make noise, not clothes,” as they continue to push the envelope on signature everyday wear items. For their Fall Winner 2020 collection, Undercover draws inspiration from Japanese history and feudal Japan. The capsule also references scenes from Akira Kurosawa’s 1957 adaptation of Macbeth, Throne of Blood.

The collection titled “Fallen Man” uses a strong mix of motif patterns from Samurai to snakes, intricate detailings and familiar use of a dark color palette. You’ll see Fall and Winter colorways of black, khaki, grey and Bordeaux throughout the collection. The ready-to-wear includes a mix of short-sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies and jackets with “Throne of Blood,” “Fallen Man” and “Undercover” written throughout. 

Notable pieces in the collection include a variety of scenes from Throne of Blood. The Undercover Throne of Blood General T-Shirt consists of the classic Samurai screen-printed with Throne of Blood branding underneath; the Undercover Throne of Blood Prisoner T-Shirt features a scene of the Samurai in a prison cell with Throne of Blood branding underneath; and the Undercover Throne of Blood Teachings T-Shirt which is a classic black tee with the Samauri and Throne of Blood branding on the left top pocket. Other notable pieces in the collection include Undercover’s Ancient Hooded Sweatshirt and Undercover’s Fallen Man Face pullover.
