ReadyMade SS20: Upcycled + Reworked Vintage Military Wear
Marissa Villamor
Founded in 2013 by Japanese designer, Yuta Hosokawaout, ReadyMade is known for its use of upcycling and reworking of vintage military apparel to give it a modern and luxury touch. The brand’s message is to promote world peace by turning items used for violence into luxury items to convey his wish to end all war.
ReadyMade is easily recognized by its use of custom patchwork on many of their pieces inspired by iconic American cultural references. Most notable pieces in the collections include duffle bags, purses and pants, that often feature handwritten tags in pen by Hosokawaout himself.
ReadyMade’s Spring Summer 2020 collection stays true to its message by transforming surplus military equipment into one-of-a-kind, unique pieces.
Stand out pieces in ReadyMade’s SS20 collection include the ReadyMade Oversize Work Jacket. The vintage canvas jacket features handwritten motifs, embroidered and distressed detailing throughout with a buttoned front closure and two buttoned pockets located on the chest. Different phrases on the jacket say “Who Starts The Fite,” “Deep Hits,” “Shrieking Beasts, Screaming Animals” and more. Other must-have pieces for the SS20 collection include ReadyMade’s “Destruction is Also Creation T-Shirt” and ReadyMad’s Tactical Shorts. Various bags also come in the capsule including ReadyMade’s Weekend Bag and Papillion Bag.
