Rhude Pre-AW20 | Influenced By Western Americana

Marissa Villamor

Founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villasenor, Rhude is known for its take on classic wardrobe silhouettes influenced by Western Americana. The contemporary menswear label puts a modern twist on Western-wear with the use of premium textiles and cut-and-sew construction.

The idea for Rhude came from Villasenor’s personal experiences of growing up in the Philippines and then moving to the West Coast at an early age. His passion for fashion also came from an early age since his father had a niche for fashion and his mother taught him to sew and design clothing. After moving to the West Coast and graduating from a Los-Angeles high school, Villasenor decided to embark on his own fashion journey and started to develop skills that would soon lead him to start Rhude. Rhude is inspired by his upbringing and experiences resulting in a heavy influence from Western Americana culture.

Each season of Rhude delivers American iconography and references to old Western times. For the Pre-Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, Rhude mixes classic streetwear silhouettes with bold graphics and includes core ready-to-wear pieces. The collection pulls a ‘90s aesthetic with its ponte box tee and raglan tee that features a ringer tee style aesthetic. Other Western influences include classic distressing and vintage-wash apparel with different sayings including “Texas,” “American RH-Country” and “Surrealism.”

Staple pieces in the Pre-AW20 delivery include the classic checkers’ hoodie, Eagle Dream & Logo Tee, Rhude Horse Tee and Rhude’s Oh Lord short-sleeve tee. Rhude Pre-AW20 is available now at our Calabasas and Wynn locations + online. To shop for the latest collection, click here.
