Since its grand debut in Pharell Williams’ iconic music video ‘Frontin’ in 2003, Billionaire Boys Club has revolutionized into one of the most globally recognized clothing accessories and lifestyle brands. Before its release, founders Pharell Williams and NIGO joined together to create a concept that influences pockets of fashion, music, design, and culture. Thus, Billionaire Boys Club was born. Rapper, songwriter, and producer Pharell Williams is one of the most influential music and fashion industry forces. NIGO is a largely recognized fashion designer mostly known for his successful bands Bathing Ape and Human Made. The two have collided to create a brand that leads and defines fashion with its blend of streetwear and luxury aesthetics and create a unique spin on standard designs. Billionaire Boys Club focuses on originality and authentic self-expression, hence its mantra, and Pharrell’s aspirational motto, “Wealth is of the heart and mind. Not the pocket.” is intertwined throughout the brand’s graphics and designs.

Billionaire Boys Clubs’ designs and styles feature loud, vibrant colors, bold graphics, and all-over prints, as seen in the brand’s most recent fall collection. Inspired by folk culture and style, pieces feature signature patchwork collage designs and quality tie-dyed items. Additional items include military-grade details and signature space-themed prints on select items. The neo-vintage statement pieces stem further inspiration from the late Sun Ra, an impactful Jazz musician, and poet known for his experimental music and cosmic philosophy. Sun Ra often portrayed himself as a producer of outer space and was considered the Godfather of Afrofuturism.

Stand-out pieces from the brand’s fall 2021 collection begin with the BB Fuse S/S Knit seen in Navy and White. Its main attribute is its stitched patchwork along the bottom hem, which brings it back to the collection’s folk culture inspiration. The shirt includes the brand’s signature Astronaut motif on the right sleeve and an embroidered brand logo on the chest. With the BB Astral Pullover Hoodie, a tie-dye wash is seen throughout the hood, highlighting the overall silhouette. The drawstring provides an adjustable fit, while the blend of cotton and polyester gives a soft and comfortable feel. To pair with the top, the BB Illuminate Short features an all-over tie-dye wash throughout the cotton silhouette. The shorts include an adjustable drawstring and a zipper pocket for optimal function, complete with a screen-printed Astronaut motif on the right leg.
