Reese Cooper has made strides in fashion history by curating unique collections that tell a story and reflect the great outdoors. To kick off the new year, the young designer has taken natural stylings and given it a runway finish. Titled, ‘River Runs Through’ the collection showcases a mixture of garments championing nomadic and Americana aesthetics.
The self-taught designer initially launched his line in 2016 by introducing small and limited capsules to the general public. Once a loyal following started to form for the brand, Cooper decided to make his official debut in 2018 during Paris Fashion Week. It was then that Reese Cooper became a solidified name within the high-fashion industry. What makes the brand even more enthralling, is the fact that Cooper began his line at 18 years old; later becoming the youngest finalist to be nominated for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund in 2019. Without any formal training, his rise to fame grew over time which enabled him to create exclusive designs for companies including Barney’s and Mr. Porter.
The brand has very specific core values which include support for the fashion community, education, and the environment. With this strong passion, Reese Cooper contributes a portion of their annual revenue to varying organizations that align with their values. All of the apparel coincides with the One Tree Planted project, therefore whenever an item is sold a donation is offered to help preserve California’s forests and trees. The strong connection to wildlife and philanthropy runs deep within the company and makes Reese Cooper stand-out within the industry.
Within the latest collection, we see a common trend of outdoor clothing detailing that includes a variety of pockets, hunter orange detailing, and hunting patterns. The ‘River Runs Through’ SS21 collection combines streetwear with a nomadic lifestyle. The latest designs fuse the great outdoors with new graphics and a nod towards forestry. Every collection is truly special but for Reese Cooper, this one, in particular, can be easily remembered as he utilized his friends as models to showcase his newest designs. Bringing his company to Thousand Oaks, California, he asked his models to walk down a creek and utilize that as his runway. The use of premium quality material is crucial in Cooper’s design as he would like each piece to reflect its outdoor counterpart. Genuine cotton and intricate smooth edges can be seen within the Piru Creek Hooded Sweatshirt and Flying Ducks Crewneck Sweatshirt.
