Air Jordan 1 Low 'Black and Dark Powder Blue' Release September 28th

Air Jordan 1 Low 'Black and Dark Powder Blue' Release September 28th

Haven Neiman

The Air Jordan 1 first made its debut in 1985 by legendary sneaker designer Peter Moore. The design has maintained a timeless sneaker and is a go-to for any collection. As a symbol of youth counter-culture, this legacy began when Michael Jordan first stepped onto the NBA court sporting the sneakers and was fined $5,000 for violating the uniform policy. At the time, only athletic and colorful sneakers were primarily used for runners. Basketball players were mostly wearing neutral sneakers with subtle hints of color. The Air Jordan 1 was flying off the shelves after Jordan retired in 1993. The sneaker did have a revival once the early 2000s hit, and its hype has only grown in popularity and established itself as a staple sneaker silhouette.

The Air Jordan 1 is considered the sneaker that started it all, as it's an iconic piece of footwear that has seen countless colorways and iterations over the years. The famous ‘bred’ colorway started it all, as it's the colorway that Michael Jordan was penalized for each time he stepped on the court wearing the pair. Additional notable colorways include the ‘Shadow,’ ‘Royal,’ and ‘Mocha.’

The latest Air Jordan 1 arrival is introduced in a ‘Black and Dark Powder Blue’ colorway. This silhouette continues the Jordan repertoire while also nodding to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. The leather upper features additional leather overlays. Contrasting black accents are seen at the forefoot overlay and signature Swoosh. The heel panel is printed with Jordan Wings branding, while the woven Nike Air tongue tag offers further detailing. The Air cushioning paired with the perforated toe box adds further breathability and comfort. A rubber outsole underneath completes the rest of the design.
