The History of the High Roller Pack
Before FEATURE became home to over 120 of the most exclusive top tier-brands and three retail locations, our early beginnings started in 2010 with our first brick-and-mortar location in Chinatown, Las Vegas, and a small online platform. Four years later, in 2014, we made our debut FEATURE sneaker collaboration with one of the first brands to join our roster—Saucony. Established in 1898 in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, Saucony’s footwear focuses on retro running shoes with new colorways, bold silhouettes, and premium materials. The brand became a household name in the running shoe industry in the ‘70s and has grown its importance in the sneaker world. Most recognized for their Saucony logo, which represents the water flow of the Saucony Creek in Kutztown and the boulders that line it, Saucony’s legacy is long-lasting and continues to move forward.
Winning and losing isn’t gray, but instead black and white. That concept is recognized throughout the exclusive FEATURE x Saucony ‘High Roller’ Pack. First introduced in 2014 as the first-ever sneaker collaboration project at FEATURE, the ‘High Roller’ Pack spotlights iconic footwear silhouettes from the running shoe brand such as the Saucony G9 Shadow 6 and Saucony G9 Shadow 5. By utilizing casino-themed motifs, these distinct silhouettes nod to FEATURE’s hometown roots of Las Vegas.
FEATURE x Saucony G9 Shadow 'High Roller,' 2014
The first installment of the FEATURE x Saucony sneaker collaboration was the ‘High Roller.’ Represented through Saucony’s signature G9 Shadow silhouette, the design was introduced to the world in 2014. By taking inspiration from Las Vegas’ most popular currency, the casino chip, this low-top runner takes on the form of the $100 casino chip. Salmon-colored accents are seen at the side panel, lining, and tongue label. Buttery suede embodies half of the upper, while the soft and perforated leather covers the toe box and heel cap. Our FEATURE mantra ‘All Things Good’ is proudly displayed within the tongue and includes an embroidered casino hip image. An all-over casino chip graphic appears within the insole, further spotlighting this distinct aesthetic. 3M hints appear throughout the tongue trim, and the signature Saucony logo nods to the brand’s rich heritage. The speckled midsole and the timeless rubber gum outsole complete the aesthetic.
FEATURE x Saucony G9 Shadow 'Barney,' 2015
The year after ‘High Roller’s debut, in 2015, the second sneaker of the ‘High Roller’ Pack was introduced—’Barney.’ Debuting within the same silhouette as ‘High Roller,’ the low-top Saucony G9 Shadow 6 sneaker takes inspiration from the $500 casino chip nicknamed ‘Barney.’ Featuring a premium purple suede upper, this bold and distinctive design incorporates accents with black suede overlays, which is reminiscent of the colorway of the $500 casino chip. ‘Barney’ maintains different tones of purple that are seen at the side guards along with the 3M heel panel and speckled midsole. Our signature ‘All Things Good’ mantra appears at the casino chip tongue label along with the all-over chip graphic on the insoles. Signature Saucony tri-colored Three-Dot branding appears along the sides. The speckled round laces and midsole further detail the overall aesthetic, while the signature rubber gum outsole emphasizes the design’s durability and traction.
FEATURE x Saucony G9 Shadow 5 'The Pumpkin,' 2015
The exclusive FEATURE x Saucony ‘High Roller’ Pack continued its journey and released its third sneaker addition in 2015, ‘The Pumpkin.’ This silhouette differentiated itself slightly from its previous predecessors, as this time, the design is displayed within Saucony’s G9 Shadow 5. Inspired by the $1,000 casino chip ‘The Pumpkin,’ the silhouette features a bold and unique shaggy suede upper. Orange and green hues are proudly presented within the design’s overlays, further nodding to the casino chip inspiration. Black detailing is placed throughout and seen within Saucony’s signature branding. The same also appears at the 3M heel panel and tongue trimming. ‘All Things Good’ is placed at the casino chip-inspired tongue label, while additional chip graphics can be seen in an all-over screen-printed graphic manner within the insoles. The collaboration’s signature speckle-printed midsole makes a supplemental statement, and the gum rubber outsole completes the design.
The ‘High Roller’ Pack from the exclusive FEATURE x Saucony collaboration concludes with its last installment, the FEATURE x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Chocolate Chip.' Nodding to the original design, the sneaker features a vast array of signature materials that nods to the series' grand finale. By taking inspiration from vintage Las Vegas, the sneaker utilizes brown, pink, and different variants of white as we pay homage to retro versions of the $5,000 chip. As the last chip denomination before moving on to markers, the FEATURE x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Chocolate Chip’ is designed with a decadent Las Vegas heritage in mind. The grand finale of the exclusive FEATURE x Saucony ‘High Roller’ Pack ends this week, January 29th, with the release of the FEATURE x Saucony Shadow 6000 ‘Chocolate Chip.’
Along with the sneaker’s release will be the release of our coinciding collaborative apparel capsule, which is also inspired by vintage Las Vegas casinos intertwined with signature FEATURE graphics and branding.
