Vans Vault joins forces with Julian Klincewicz for his first collaboration with Vans. Klincewicz is a multidisciplinary artist that works in film, photography, fashion, publishing, writing and music. He has collaborated with a number of celebrities including Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kayne West, Calvin Klein, Raf Simons, Acne Studios, Virgil Abloh and more. 

Based in Southern California, Klincewicz is inspired by the exploration of humanity and connection. For this collaboration with Vans, Klincewicz takes this idea and explores the Latin prefix “COM,” which means together, using three pillars that he believes represents a meaningful life; compassion, community and communication. 

“I think what’s always been interesting to me is when things have layers to them, when an object represents something bigger than the sum of its parts, and takes on a life of its own. For me shoes have always been such a part of defining identity, and I was thinking a lot about what goes into your identity, and how to make something that could, on a very basic level, function as a reminder that identity does not exist in a vacuum — its something that’s meant to be shared. I love the idea that we are not alone — we’re all humans. We’re in it together.”

The Vans Vault x Julian Klincewicz collaboration features the Bold Ni LX silhouette in three different colorways each representing the three pillars; community, compassion and communication. Eden represents the community, black beauty represents compassion and grey ridge represents communication. Paired with the Vans Vault Silhouette, there are three t-shirts promoting the message of Communication, Community and Compassion. The collaborative t-shirts have these three messages printed on the back with photography images on the front.
