In 1948, Puma was born from the mind of Rudolf Dassler of Germany. Although conceived by an unfortunate circumstance like the deteriorating relationship between Rudolf and his brother Adolf, some positives bloomed--one of them being Puma. The German-based sportswear brand made its presence known with their products modeling the characteristics of the namesake’s animal; speed, strength, agility, and endurance.

Puma’s timeless footwear, most notably the Puma Suede, has cemented itself in the world of streetwear and athletics after debuting in 1973. The likes of New York Knicks’ Walt “Clyde” Frazier helped in rooting the legacy of the shoe by getting his own personal iteration to flaunt. The Puma Suede also deviated from the world of sports and was adopted into hip-hop culture, most notably breakdancing (or b-boying) in the 1980’s.

Fast forward to 2020, the Puma Suede makes its return this time in an updated VTG makeover. The Puma Suede VTG still retains the iconic blocking but with slight updates. With aspirations to remain as close to the original iteration, the signature suede upper is now a more velvety suede. There’s also minor changes like the absence of suede branding and edged tongue. The brand’s timeless formstrip still acts as the icing on the cake as it embellishes the sides of the shoe. 

This collection of Puma Suede VTG comes in three colorways with this release. First is the classic Black and White colorway that has shown no signs of aging. If you’re inclined to making your presence known, the High Risk Red colorway is sure to draw attention towards your feet with its bright display. The third colorway brings you back to earth with this clean, sophisticated Peacoat and White colorway. With options to choose from, each colorway is sure to distribute the same effect as it once did decades ago.
