Adidas x Human Made Forum Lo + Country Release April 24th

Adidas x Human Made Forum Lo + Country Release April 24th

Chelsie Rendon

The inception of Human Made was a passion project by world-renowned artist, NIGO. His first brand, Bape, gained instant traction and grew quickly. But over time he decided to add more to his repertoire and look into other styles that don’t coincide with Bape’s aesthetic. Human Made follows more of a nostalgic theme as it grasps inspiration from early 1960s Americana culture. These pieces and creations have a personal meaning behind them as they are more fitting to his everyday style. Nigo, also known as Tomoaki Nagao, has been within the fashion industry for a long time and also has dabbled into other ventures including music. He’s been able to curate a loyal following and become friends with notable names. One of these friends includes Pharrell Williams; their friendship led to a partnership as they would also develop brands including Billionaire Boys Club and Icecream. As he continues to grow, Nigo also accepts new projects as he has collaborated with many brands including Louis Vuitton, Off-White, and Adidas. He continues his relationship with Adidas with a collection that highlights classic sneakers with a modern twist.

When the duo announced their collaborative efforts in 2020, it was clear they followed a style that combines classic Adidas silhouettes with the modern and nostalgic essence commonly seen in Human Made collections. Their aesthetics works well together as they rendered the Stan Smith and Rivalry sneaker. Just in time for spring, both brands have come together again to release two new versions of traditional footwear designs. The Forum Lo and Country are some of the most prolific shoes within Adidas repertoire as they are classic silhouettes reminiscent of the brand’s roots. Following a theme mantra, ‘future is the past’ the collection is met with familiar colorways and modern finishes.

Following a green and white colorway, the Forum Lo resembles its iconic design as it includes the signature strap closure and three-stripe motif. Embossed branding makes its way upon the side panels and heels. Suede overlays decorate the leather base along with perforated holes and stitched labeling on the tongue. The Country model draws inspiration from track and field footwear with its waffle gum outsole and toebox closure. Also created with a leather base, the Country sees familiar branding and a TPU heel clip for optimal stability during times of wear. What each shoe introduces that is new to the silhouette and never seen before is the Boost midsole instead of traditional foam cushioning. Adidas’ signature Boost technology is a favored attribute that many desire and implementing this tech gives the shoe a new look on the inside and an elevated feel within. The shoes coincide with an SS21 collection that will follow suit as it showcases familiar colors and themes. This release is different as it incorporates new details in comparison to previous designs.
