Air Jordan 1 Low SE ‘Diamond’ Release February 9th

Air Jordan 1 Low SE

The perfect storm was created in 1984 when the iconic Michael Jordan stepped onto the basketball court during his rookie year of basketball while sporting a pair of Air Jordan 1s. Although he was wearing a pair of Air Ships because the Air Jordan 1 wasn’t finalized, Jordan received a stern letter from the NBA commission letting him know that he had violated the NBA’s uniform guidelines. After officially launching a year later at the end of Jordan’s first season, the silhouette was thriving as it was a must-have sneaker for all. The controversy surrounding the sneaker’s beginnings was well worth it, as it has maintained a timeless aesthetic with an iconic reputation.

As just the beginning of the Jordan Brand’s reputable legacy, the Air Jordan 1 has maintained its stake as an iconic silhouette in the world of sneakers. Designed by iconic sneaker designer Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 has been introduced within thousands of colorways, most notably ‘Bred,’ ‘Shadow,’ ‘Royal,’ and ‘Mocha.’ When the sneaker was first introduced to the public, colorful sneakers mainly were reserved for running sneakers. Basketball sneakers were slated to mostly neutral hues. Considered to be ‘the one that started it all,’ the Air Jordan 1 redefined the sport of basketball’s relationship to style and embodies a sense of youth counter-culture to Michael Jordan’s NBA violation and the overall shift in sneaker culture.

The latest addition to the Jordan brand includes the Air Jordan 1 Low SE ‘Diamond.’ In honor of Nike’s 36-year-anniversary, this particular edition silhouette incorporates a monochrome aesthetic and features a nubuck upper for a detailed look. The design spotlights atypical color blocking throughout the shape, while tonal detailing can be seen at the nylon tongues, laces, and liners. The tongue tag has received a bold Diamond/Jumpman design, while the milky-translucent rubber outsole emphasizes durability and traction.
