Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG

‘Bordeaux’

The iconic Air Jordan 1 silhouette was first presented in 1985 near the end of NBA legend Michael Jordan’s rookie year. Created by Nike sneaker designer Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 maintains a timeless design and is considered a go-to sneaker style for all. As a symbol of youth counter-culture, the sneaker redefined basketball styles and was only the beginning of footwear brands pairing up with athletes. The shoe’s claim to fame incorporated the immense controversy that surrounded it. When Jordan first stepped onto the NBA court sporting the sneakers, he was fined $5,000 for violating the uniform policy. At the time, the only athletic, colorful sneakers were primarily for runners, while basketball players primarily sported a white sneaker with subtle hints of color. Although after the Air Jordan 1’s initial debut was thriving and flying off the shelves after Jordan retired in 1993, the hype over the sneaker diminished. Thankfully, in the early 2000s, the Air Jordan 1 was re-introduced and has only grown in popularity and established itself as a staple sneaker silhouette.

The Air Jordan 1 is an iconic piece of Nike’s footwear repertoire, and although there have been thousands of colorways since its first introduction, the famous ‘Bred’ colorway is the one that started it all. This colorway got Jordan penalized by the NBA every time he stepped on the court sporting the sneakers. Additional iconic colorways of the Air Jordan 1 include ‘Shadow,’ ‘Royal,’ and ‘Mocha.’

The Jordan Brand introduces the latest Air Jordan rendition, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Bordeaux.’ The heritage color blocking design makeup features a fall-inspired hue. This brand-new colorway features a bright White midsole and leather underlays that align with the bold Bordeaux overlays, laces, and accents. The Metallic Silver swooshes and Air Jordan Wings logos further spotlight the silhouette. A rubber outsole underneath enhances the design’s durability, while the perforated toe box completes the look.
