Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘University Blue’ Releases on March 6th

Chelsie Rendon

Since its original release in 1985, the first-ever Air Jordan is the most notable model within the brand’s footwear index. When Michael Jordan stepped on the court wearing red and black sneakers, the world of basketball and footwear was changed forever. Within the sea of white shoes, the Air Jordan 1 we now know as ‘Banned’ or ‘Bred’ started a revolution within the footwear industry that changed the way we look at sneakers. Since that moment, Nike and Jordan Brand have continuously put forth new designs and colorways to upkeep the demand created by the general public. Sneaker enthusiasts and fashion connoisseurs are anxiously awaiting the next delivery between the two labels.

Within Jordan Brand’s 2021 line-up, we were introduced to new variants of beloved silhouettes which included the rendition of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG in the colorway ‘University Blue.’ This model is constructed with its original blueprints while elevated features decorate its body. These attributes include the premium leather upper, suede accents, and quality motifs. This particular model displays a muted blue providing a natural color that can be easily implemented in any outfit.

Reminiscent of the University of North Carolina, the ‘University Blue’ colorway is seen in suede overlays that decorate its leather upper. Unmistakable motifs including the Jordan Wings and Swoosh are colored in jet black contrasting the lighter hues. Perforated holes are seen within the toe box while a dual-color rubber outsole coincides with the overall aesthetic. The timeless design seen within the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG is similar to its original utilizing its accurate shape, height, and traditional ‘Nike Air’ branding upon the tongue prior to rebranding. The foam cushioning and air pockets are implemented within the insole providing long-lasting comfort during times of wear over time. This particular colorway is presented in both grade school and adult sizing. Since its initial introduction within the Jumpman Spring Line-up announcement, the colorway has been well-anticipated by fanatics and is ready to secure a pair.
