Air Trainer 3 QS ‘Viotech’ Releases 6/27

Marissa Villamor

The Air Trainer 3 was originally released in 1988 previously known as the Nike Air Trainer SC 3. The Air Trainer 3 name fully transitioned over once the silhouette was first retroed by Nike for the first time in the 2000s. The iconic silhouette stands out from other sneakers by featuring a midfoot strap and the same tooling with a visible Air-sole unit. Originally released in 2002, the Air Trainer 3 Viotech will be re-released in the same iconic colorway.

The silhouette became popular by arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time, Bo Jackson. Jackson is known for being a former All-Star in both professional baseball and football that played for both the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Raiders at the same time in the late ‘80s, which solidifying his overall G.O.A.T. status. Jackson was featured in multiple iconic Nike ads highlighting the silhouette and specifically, the Medicine Ball colorway, which made the silhouette highly sought after. Another iconic celebrity to help put the shoe on the map was Spike Lee in the 1989 movie Do The Right Thing. With both Jackson and Lee as the shoes "spokesperson," the Air Trainer 3 had great popularity right off the bat.

The Air Trainer 3 Viotech was first introduced back in 2002. 18 years later, the Viotech is back with even more hype. The 2020 edition of the Nike Air Trainer 3 ‘Viotech’ shows a vibrant viotech purple upper with gold accents on the Swoosh. The adjustable midfoot strap comes in a grey colorway and features a visible Air sole unit.
