Founded by Atsuhiko Mori, Wacko Maria became a staple brand in Japan and over time became well-recognized around the world. The once J-league soccer player, Mori, wanted to create a fashion label focusing on bold prints and religious iconography. As well as those focal points, he ties in his roots of Japanese culture and western society. The ideology of his vibe came together through music and art during his teen years.

The use of animal-print is common throughout Wacko Maria’s history. Within the collection, we find these prints with moderate changes. One of the stand-out pieces being the Leopard Mohair Cardigan. The mohair/wool fabric envelopes the piece creating a luxurious experience when worn. Along with the leopard cardigan, ashtrays are given the same pattern supplying a cohesive look to the collection. Another animal print item is the Tiger Camo Army Shirt. The mixture between camo and tiger print takes a bold design on the button-up: ideal for layering.

Within the collection, we find more than just apparel. Wacko Maria features their latest designs on the traditional gym sock. The stripe design is redesigned with bold and vibrant colors along with knitted branding throughout the piece. To coincide, the collection showcases its latest collaboration with fragrance company Kuumba. Together they’ve created an incense stick named the “PussyKiller.” Made out of bamboo, the sticks can burn up to 60 minutes.
