‘COKANE RABBIT’ SUMMER 2021 

Anwar ‘Carrots’ Washington was introduced to the world of fashion at a young age. After watching a family friend create clothing from scratch, he became fond of the idea and set out to become an influential being within the world of fashion. Starting in high school, Anwar developed a blog titled, ‘Arrogant Veggies’ which created a cult following as people enjoyed Anwar’s streetwear composure and unique outlook on clothing. This was just the beginning of his career and eventually led to a full-fledged brand known as ‘Peas & Carrots.’ Throughout high school, Anwar was known as ‘Carrots’ due to his hair color but it also worked perfectly for his brand as he created it alongside good friends Joshton Peas and Casey Veggies. The trio was getting noticed but it wasn’t until their big break with renowned rapper, Mac Miller, that truly put them on the map. Casey Veggies would be the opening act for Mac Miller’s 2011 tour and this gave Anwar the opportunity to create clothing. He would design graphics with their name and sell them on tour. This opportunity set the stage for Anwar, realizing that his hard work actually paid off. In 2015, Anwar diverged from his initial brand and focused on his namesake known as Carrots by Anwar Carrots. Since then, Anwar has legally adopted the name Carrots and is devoted to growing his vegetable-themed brand. Since its inception the fashion label has partnered with notable names including K-Swiss, Puma, Champion, Japanese label Girls Don’t Cry, and Sanrio to name a few. Determined to become the next go-to label, Anwar is committed to not only producing comfortable everyday wear but has extended its line into lifestyle and children’s apparel. 

Most recently the fashion label has partnered with music veteran Freddie Gibbs on a summer collection that combines his ‘Cokane Rabbit’ motif and Carrots’ signature aesthetic. Growing up in Gary, Indiana, Gibbs lived a hard life and experienced firsthand vices that made him the person he is today. His major influences include Tupac and Houston rap- this styling eventually landed him a spot within XXL Magazine’s ten freshmen of 2010. Aside from his music, he is also well-known for his vocal presence online, his most recent acting performance, and his collaborations with a wide range of artists and labels. Together, Carrots by Anwar Carrots and Freddie Gibbs, perfectly blend their designs onto ready-to-wear apparel. As a part of Carrots’ summer collection, the drop includes new graphic tees and long sleeve designs. The transitional pieces offer a bold touch to all outfits. 

The Cokane Rabbit Wordmark Tee is introduced in three colorways; black, white, and athletic heather. Composed of quality cotton, a combination of screen-printed and embroidered graphics highlight their joined imagery. Its lightweight and casual fit are detailed with intricate rib-knit stitching at the neckline for optimal comfort. Everyday styles are elevated with the familiar designs of the Cokane Rabbit Crewneck and Long Sleeve QS. Bold colors of orange, green, and yellow create a cohesive delivery that sticks true to the overall theme. The highest quality of fabrication is incorporated into the design for a comfortable fit during times of wear. 

Pair the graphics with the latest additions shorts, the Cokane Rabbit Shorts QS. Developed with Champion garments, the design consists of simplistic branding along the leg while the rear highlights the inimitable rabbit. Functional elements include a comfortable elastic waistband and flush slit pockets that can secure all items. The collection also introduces two new hoodies that are perfect for leisurely moments. The Cokane Rabbit Hoodie and Carrot Yard Hoodie is a comfortable addition as a cotton jersey is emphasized throughout its constriction. A kangaroo pocket, adjustable drawstrings, and rib-knit trims are details that provide a luxe finish.
