Fall Arrivals from Gallery Dept.

Haven Neiman

Josue Thomas’ brainchild Gallery Dept. was officially established in 2017. Known as a unisex clothing brand based in Los Angeles, California, Gallery Dept.’s legacy began when its founder sold a hand-sewn denim poncho off his back and directly to Johnny Depp’s stylist. Thomas’ lifelong love of apparel was inspired by concepts of art, streetwear culture, vintage fashion, and his close eye on his parent’s raw creative skills. The brand’s name stems from the actual concepts of gallery departments. Gallery Dept.’s intention is to repurpose garments into something entirely new and different, all while not sacrificing quality or artistic integrity. Sitting somewhere between being a streetwear label, neighborhood tailor, and vintage store, Gallery Dept.’s legacy has massively grown over the years and only continues to spread.

Cut entirely from cotton, the Gallery Dept. Weed Tee is a must-have from the streetwear label’s latest delivery. The design features a crew neckline for added detail. Its primary spotlight is the screen-printed plant graphic that is seen at the front and rear. The tee itself is cut and washed entirely by hand in Los Angeles and spotlights an all-over tie-dye wash as well. Made for an oversized fit, the silhouette makes an impression on any apparel rotation. Another stand-out apparel item from Gallery Dept. for the season is the Gallery Dept. LA Flare Carpenter. This streetwear-inspired design is made for a slim fit and spotlights a wider leg opening. Paired perfectly with any type of top, this silhouette is cut from repurposed cotton denim, the silhouette is treated with an array of markings and distressing that make an impression. A zip/button fly adds a functional touch, while the five-pocket design wraps up the rest.

For a different approach, the Gallery Dept. Atelier Parker Shirt makes an impression on any apparel rotation. The design is crafted from cotton and spotlights a button-down closure that connects to a spread collar for added detailing. A chest pocket makes an appearance, while the embroidered branding and typography at the chest and rear give off an authentic vintage aesthetic.
